Casio's EX-Z75 Breast Cancer Awareness Month special edition
Casio, a company well known for its small electronics, but probably not so well known for its philanthropic interests, will soon be releasing a special edition of its EXILIM digital camera in support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The limited-edition pink EX-Z75 is a 7.3 megapixel digital compact, with a 2.6-inch widescreen LCD, 3x optical zoom, Anti-Shake DSP for controlling your nervous hands, and something the company calls "eBay mode," presumably for when you decide to put your old camera on the auction block. A bundle including the camera, a case embossed with the National Breast Cancer Foundation's signature pink ribbon, and a similarly styled lanyard will go on sale in October for $179.99.

ebay mode is low res pictures suitable for posting on ebay.
I have the Casio Z2700 as a second camera to keep in the car and think it is a great "knockaround" picture and movie device.

With 7 megapixels, you can more than make me aware of breasts'... cancers...
michas_pi @ Jul 24th 2007 1:51PM
Breast cancer awareness or not, it's still a pink camera. No thanks.

How about a heart disease camera since it kills close to 3 times as many women a year than breast cancer? Oh yeah, no cute feminine color for that one...
Brad @ Jul 24th 2007 2:26PM
and without that cute color, they may not sell as many units...wouldn't really have much money to donate to the cause if no one buys it, hmm?
craighead @ Jul 24th 2007 2:30PM
Breasts cancer apparently owns the color pink.

Not to mention the lack of prostate cancer cameras.
"Now with endoscope mode!"
michas_pi @ Jul 24th 2007 3:39PM
The women's heart disease color is red. Pretty feminine to me.

Whoops, sorry for the doublepost.

so does this camera take extra high quality pictures of breasts?

this is nothing more than an EX-Z75 in Pink thats probably been tinkered to warrent a new model number so they can push more of their old stock out the door.
This thing has been around for ever, and now its laying claim to a charitable cause to gain market. I'm personally a bit miffed by this weak attempt on Casio's part.
It's insideous and slimey. Just call it a pink camera and be done with it.

It's funny because all they did is re-release their EXZ-75PK with the special badged case and lanyard. I have carried this at my store (Circuit City) for months!

Aren't they nice?
Seriously, yes... it's a fine move to promote such institutions. Yet again, it just seems like a pr-move to me. Seems like "How-to-market-an-old-product 101" has been learned quite well.

Marketing strategies are becoming quite sickening! When I see a serious illness linked to one of them, such as this pink camera for breast cancer. I just hope that no matter what the motive is for casio marketing it, that we take a moment and realize that their financial gain should not give us cause to ignore how any serious disease affects the human spirit. As much as it erks me to see profit made out of human suffering, I think that it serves more than one purpose. Someone might be making money off of it, but it is also a reminder to think beyond myself.
