HP unveils nine new budget-friendly Photosmart cameras
What's a Thursday in June without nine new boringcams from HP to be totally underwhelmed by? We can't think of a better way to spend our morning than to sort through all these mundane Photosmart models, and if you have the patience feel free to join in on the fun. The cameras range from the $80 E337, which features a 5 megapixel sensor and a 1.5-inch LCD, all the way up to the R937 (pictured), sporting a 3.6-inch touchscreen and an 8 megapixel resolution, which goes for $300. In between is a vast wasteland of minor feature bumps and teensy aesthetic tweaks, but we've gotta hand it to HP for packing good amount of features into some fairly well priced cameras. Keep reading and all will be revealed.

HP Photosmart R937 Digital Camera == 3000$ !!!!!??
isn't that a "little" too expensive
Andrei Vassiliev @ Jun 21st 2007 11:43AM
It's 300 bucks... not 3000
sLm4ever @ Jun 21st 2007 11:48AM
aha I know ^^; .... but it was 3000 and they corrected it =) ...

they are ugly as fuck, except for the last two which are alright
jarofchris @ Jun 21st 2007 2:57PM
At least most of them actually look like cameras. The last two are by far the ugliest of them all.
thanol @ Jun 21st 2007 11:30AM
Oooh Fujinon lenses.
TIMMAH! @ Jun 21st 2007 11:30AM
Wow, can they get the flash and the lens any closer together!?!? Can you say "red eye"?
McGinley @ Jun 21st 2007 11:36AM
Yes,I can.
AirStrike X2 @ Jun 21st 2007 11:55AM
No matter what HP does, their cameras look so early 1900's..
McGinley @ Jun 21st 2007 12:17PM
Early 1900's?This is what they looked like a century ago?
Steve Balsiger @ Jun 21st 2007 5:49PM
whats so ugly and ancient about them. i actually think the last one looks pretty cool. what comparable cameras look better?? are these really that different?
AirStrike X2 @ Jun 21st 2007 6:27PM
"comparable cameras" are for example the Sony's Cybershot lineup. They have better image quality and more functions such as the DSC-T100..
And u were asking me about their looks? C'mon just look at those cameras... They look very similar to the ones HP has been making... except they are less bulky with a new finish and maybe larger[touch] screen. I'll only say that the last one is good if I could test its picture quality.. and see what i get compared to T100
Hastings @ Jun 21st 2007 12:02PM
I made the mistake of buying the HP R927, 3" LCD, 8MP sensor...absolute garbage. Whenever you want to take a picture, it says "Processing..." and will actually make you wait up to 11 full seconds before it takes the picture. (if at all)
Luckily because I sell HP products/after my retail discount I ended up making $100 when I bought it, but I'm still very unhappy with their cameras.
Sixstringlover81 @ Jun 21st 2007 12:24PM
Did you update the firmware on the R927. Mine works fine. Also take it out of the Red eye auto flash.
clicclic @ Jun 21st 2007 3:20PM
Why update the firmware when you can moan about it instead. Come on!
Dan @ Jun 21st 2007 4:47PM
Those are some fugly cameras. The last one with the touch screen and 3.6" LCD could be cool, but doubtful it will perform well.
aiko.adonia @ Jun 22nd 2007 3:07AM
Who cares about how the camera looks?! It's about how it preforms for the price. If you want somthing pretty go buy a painting or something else that it actually matters what it looks like.
Neptune5 @ Jun 23rd 2007 4:45AM
$300-$400 more can get you pretty good entry level Digital SLR camera , but if someone was eager about getting a point and shoot, they would be better off buying a used canon or sony camera off of the craigslist instead, for price of the new $300 HP you can get a used sony DSC-T9 for $50 less http://toronto.craigslist.org/ele/355226837.html
or a Canon PowerShot SD1000 for 20 less http://toronto.craigslist.org/ele/355722480.html
HP should just stick to making good printers and stop selling flunky cameras, only the people that arn't knowledgeable enough to know that unless your blowing up your photos to poster size and printing them megapixels don't matter only the optics do and HP sucks at that.
