Palm pushes Direct Push to Palm OS
Users of Windows Mobile 5 have been enjoying Direct Push for some time via AKU2 (from the manufacturers that have decided to offer it, anyway) -- but getting that always-fascinating corporate email beamed straight on down to your Palm OS Garnet OS device, on the other hand... well, that's novel concept, indeed. Palm has announced that an update for its 680 and 700p handhelds will be made available Monday to add automatic synchronization of email, contacts, and calendar with the Exchange Server of your choice. Cobalt, it ain't, but at this point we'll take what we can get.[Via Phone Scoop]

Grrr. Where's the Treo 650 love?

News of 'Cobalt' was first released in like... late '03? We're in '07 now, and Palm devices are running SO old a OS, it's almost laughable.
I'm definitely finding this funny.

I propose a boycott of Palm until they get their act together.
Still no Cobalt.
Still no WiFi (for Palm OS).
Don't give them another Dollar, Euro, Ruble, Farthing....whatever, until they deliver the device we want. This BS about, "Look, we removed the antenna {which shouldn't have been there in the first place}; now give us another $400!" is insulting and can't be allowed to continue.

Not available for Cingular Wireless users...

not to worry...i am pretty sure it won't work for 80+% of exchange installations...
What? Don't you know that they all use self-signed ssl certificates? And don't you also know that "Garnet" and VersaMail have been changed in ways such that they DON'T ACCEPT them!?!?!?!
unless of course, they fixed that in this OTA download to be released on Monday.
yeah, you are right, they probably did...

The Palm OS. Huh. That stupid OS is still around? I thought that would have died off by now.

And the built-in Wi-Fi on my TX also works just fine.
Galley @ Jan 26th 2007 10:12AM
The built-in Wi-Fi on my LifeDrive works perfectly fine, thank you very much.

IMHO I prefer PALM O/S because it's easier, productive, WINDOWS free, and well I love it :)

I'm willing to bet this will indeed work on the 650 as long as you have VersaMail 3.5 installed, which can be purchased from Palm or downloaded from your local warez site :-)
Can anyone confirm this?
