Whoa, about time. Now, JVC needs to put the 34x zoom on CAMERAS. I don't need 10 megapixels, but I want to take pictures of objects more then 10 feet away from me. Hopefully, they'll update their camera line. DO they have a camera line?
Probably the sensor size in a camcorder is much smaller than that in a camera, so the lens itself can be smaller; this is probably why you don't see superzoom lenses in point and shoot cameras, or they would be large. Also bigger sensors in cameras generally correlate to higher picture quality, so its best not to shrink them, especially when the density of pixels is so high already.
